SAGEX role: academic partner.

Northwestern is a leading research university that is home to more than 90 school-based centres and more than 50 University research centres. With an interdisciplinary culture, their research spans a spectrum of areas including neuroscience, nanotechnology, biotechnology and drug discovery.

Department of Physics and Astronomy

SAGEX team members are based in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, whose research programme spans many areas of physics from thermal effects in mesoscopic systems to the nature of the black hole at the center of the Milky Way. The faculty use dozens of off-campus research facilities, from the CERN particle accelerator in Geneva, Switzerland, to the Hubble Space Telescope. Last year, the departmental research budget was in excess of $6,500,000.
